Little Neighbourhood's Philosophy
Health & Safety Plan
It is important for all families to understand that policies are in place to protect families, children and teachers.
Sick Policy:
- Do not send your sick child to daycare
- Please do not administer medication to your sick child before coming to the center
- Have a plan of action in place in case you are called to pick up your child
Symptoms:
If your child has any cold/flu like symptoms, such as...
- Fever: 38 ℃ or 100 ℉ or higher
- Chills
- Cough
- Sore throat and painful swallowing
- Stuffy or runny nose
- Headache
Please stay home.
Pick Up/Drop Off Procedure:
- If your child is not well, they are not permitted to stay
- We ask you to say your good-byes at the entrance
- If family notices any of your child’s belongings is missing, please notify the teacher and they will take a look once all the children has been picked up
A little bit about the founder Ms. Betty
Ms. Betty was born and raised in Vancouver, BC, even though she was born in Canada her first language was Cantonese. Her parents immigrated to Vancouver with nothing, yet growing up she has always watched her father create fun games from simple objects, like rocks and paper. Even though they didn't have a lot of toys growing up, they always had fun and with endless possibilties.
When her baby brother was born, at five years old she cradle him one night and whispered, "I will teach you the whole world", a moment that stuck with her.
And throughout the years she studied and worked in many fields like interior design, event planning, education, hospitality and business. Somehow she would always come back to teaching. Ms. Betty has taught in many different environments such as daycares, preschools, montessori, elementary schools, after school programs, camps, youth programs and even teaching on cruise ships while travelling around the world.
Then COVID-19 happened, for some it may not be the greatest times, however for Ms. Betty it was a aha moment meeting opportunity. She wanted to create a space for all children to come together to learn, to laugh and to grow with one another. So summer of 2021, Little Neighbourhood opened! With all her sweat and tears, her moment finally became a reality.
